December has been a rough month for me. The newest setback has been that my "new" (one year old) computer acquired a nasty virus (Trojan Vundo, if you're curious) which shut down my antivirus, shut down my internet, and then destroyed the rest of my computer. Poor lappy is getting sent back to Lenovo so that they can reinstall Windows XP for me, and if necessary replace my entire harddrive. Nasty virus. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it will be fine once I get it back.
Anyway, my second summer post will be delayed, since all of my pictures were on that computer (I'm currently using my old one from the Dartmouth days, which is still kicking (slowly) despite some hardware issues). I'm hoping that my most recent backup had the pictures, and if not I may be able to reassemble some of them from my memory cards (once I figure out which ones the pictures are on).
While we're on this topic, I suggest everyone visit this site for some tips on how to keep your computer safe from viruses and spyware, and invest in an external harddrive and backup your files regularly so that you don't lose all of your data if you have a similar problem.
In more unfortunate news, I was laid off on December 23 due to budgetary issues. I'm currently looking for another job. If you would like to know more about my situation, please email me because I'd rather not discuss it on the internet right now. Anyway, that's one of the reasons I've been taking a bit of a break from blogging lately.
So. Hoping for the best with my computer, trying to stay optimistic about finding a job, and enjoying a couple of weeks at home. Hope you all have a wonderful New Years!
