This summer I went to the movies a lot. There was a nice theater in Orono with inexpensive matinees.
2. Get Smart
3. The Incredible Hulk
4. Iron Man
5. Wall-E
6. The Dark Knight (3 times!)
The Dark Knight, Wall-E, and Iron Man were by far my favorites (in that order). I thought the Dark Knight was superb and Wall-E was adorable and lots of fun. Iron Man was much better than I was expecting (I wasn't even planning to see it until C talked me into it) but it was great. The Incredible Hulk was entertaining and fun. Get Smart was pretty good (nowhere near as good as the TV show, however), and I would recommend it, but it's not wonderful. I know a lot of people were disappointed in the new Indiana Jones film, but I quite liked it. I think you have to be an Indiana Jones fan in order to "get" a lot of it. So, I would recommend it if you liked the other Indy films and are willing to suspend your disbelief, sit back, and enjoy the ride.
C came up to visit in June and we took one of my precious days off to go to Bar Harbor and explore the town. We went on a "nature cruise," which C accurately described as "paying for National Geographic and getting National Enquirer": we expected to learn a lot about the animals in the area, but instead learned a lot of gossip about the people who have owned the stunning (and huge) houses on the coast.
We did also see many seals lounging on the rocks, and the younger ones in the water calling for their moms. They were wonderful. You may need to click on these pictures to see the seals, but they're there!

This next picture shows a natural bridge of rock on one of the islands.
The last picture of this set is where we ate dinner, Testa's.
We both had salads, french fries, and lobsters, which were very very yummy. We decided that we were too full for dessert, but then spied Ben and Bill's and decided to get a little ice cream (and some truffles for later). I wasn't quite brave enough to try their lobster ice cream (with real lobster), but whatever kind I got (it had chocolate, I remember) was certainly tasty. The truffles were also delicious. It was a great day, lots and lots of fun.My next adventure was visiting the Ardnoys at their camp in Harborside at the end of June. I had a wonderful time there. It's a beautiful spot on the ocean, down a little dirt road, and it's hard not to feel relaxed there. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves (as usual, hover over for details):

It was a wonderful couple of days and a nice escape from Milford and the wetlands. We actually all took the weekend off, since things were slow. The place was absolutely gorgeous, and I got a nice tour of the grounds with the neat pond in the backyard (frogs! newts! leeches (ew)) and lots of flowers. We walked to the farm to buy some vegetables for dinner and walked down by the ocean. It was so much fun. Thanks Jay and Susan!Coming up: The Bangor State Fair! Which was amazing, in so many ways.
